Keynote Speakers

Dr. Amir Faisal

Dr. Amir Faisal received the S.T. degree in engineering physics from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2009, the M.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand in 2012, and the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2017. He is a senior member of IEEE. He is currently an assistant professor in biomedical engineering at Institut Teknologi Sumatera, Lampung. His current research interest includes biomedical image analytic.

His Ph.D. research explores the use of ultrasound imaging for knee osteoarthritis screening. His research collaboration also involves echocardiography and cardiac CT scan for heart disease detection. He explores use of X-ray imaging for carpal bone measurement. He converted a light microscope into a digital, portable, and compact microscope that is equipped with AI for malaria examination. Apart from that, he also explores the use of IoT-based microclimate sensor for Sigatoka disease severity in Cavendish banana farm. His work shows a commitment to use technology for improving the effective and efficient outcomes.

Dr. Muhammad Zaim Bin Razak

Dr. Muhammad Zaim Bin Razak received his BSc. (Hons.) degree in Financial Mathematics  from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), in 2013, the MSc. degree in Finance from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), in 2015, and the PhD in Finance from Durham University, United Kingdom in 2022.  He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Financial Mathematics programme   at  Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.

His main areas of research include real estate finance and investment with a focus on time-series analysis and portfolio management. His PhD research explores the return dynamics of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) with other assets. His most recent research explores the volatility characteristics and price discovery processes of REITs in a time-series framework specifically for the Malaysian market.  He showed that REITs in specific property sectors have distinct volatility patterns and correlations structure with other financial assets. His work highlights the importance of appraising the characteristics of REITs, since it gives rise to understand the diversification benefits of REITs in a mixed-asset portfolio of assets.
